Lorronda M. Rainey, M.N.Sc, RN, began her career in the College of Nursing at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1999. Entering graduate studies, she focused on Nursing Education and has been an instructor for the past fifteen years. Rainey has worked on a variety of grants providing full tuition and support for five hundred students receiving education and training as certified assistants, licensed practical nurses, and registered nurses. In addition, she facilitated the development of the first online training programs for individuals in nursing education in the state of Arkansas. This training comprised over two-hundred participants, significantly contributing to the number of nurses qualified to serve as future nurse educators in the state. Reflating on her nursing career, she notes,"I always knew I wanted to teach. When I first started out in nursing, one of my five-year goals was to be an educator." In 2019 Lorronda Rainey was awarded the PCI Nurse Educator of the Year award.
